Last year’s Ignite was awesome and I (Tom) have been very excited about coming back for the last few months. Initially I was planning on coming along just as an audience member. Then, along with some frequent collaborators got roped in to running a venue and then thought, having signed up to all that, I might as well do a show as well…
Having spent some time in the rehearsal studio at the Barbican Theatre (perhaps not quite as much time as we’d have liked), me and Liam had little idea of what to expect when we performed the show to an actual, living, breathing audience. We knew that we really believed in the show and what we were setting out to say but, as always, the terrifying thought that maybe it would be awful or maybe no one would turn up cast over our minds.
Luckily, neither happened. We premiered Parliament Town to a packed audience, so much so that we had to get out more chairs(!), and had amazing feedback from everyone. Liam delivered a fantastic, engaging performance and really made the text his own – I can only imagine how good he’ll be tonight with that performance under his belt.
Without getting ahead of ourselves, I’d advise arriving a tiny bit early if you’re coming along tonight. I know there’s an awful lot of amazing stuff to go and see but we’d absolutely love to have the chance to share Parliament Town with you.
Parliament Town is at The City Gate Hotel at 7.15pm tonight (Friday 6th) and tomorrow (Saturday 7th) and runs for 45 minutes.
